(35) For whoever wants to save his [ higher, spiritual, eternal] life, will lose it [the lower, natural, temporal life which is lived only on earth]; and whoever gives up his life [which is lived only on earth] for My sake and the Gospel's will save it [his higher, spiritual life in the eternal kingdom of God].

Contemplating
This life we are living here on this very world is temporary. Just like in Hollywood, once your time is done, you are out from the hall and walk of fame; no one wants you anymore (try watching entourage to know this). My father used to say:
"The World is the grand stage/movie set, we are the actors, God is the Producer/Director/Story writer. Our life is the story and script. Once our role here is done, we die."
Think of Charlie sheen in Two and a Half Men TV series, once they don't want to use him anymore, they remove him and was recorded on the script that he died. As easy as that; this is what our life is. As simple as that, if God doesn't want you on His stage, you die and poof you disappear.
So is this life only to satisfy our own ego? let me tell you this, It is not about our life! It is temporary only. For if we think about our own life all the time, it is useless and we will only feel weary and tired of it.
Leave everything in God's hand and work for God and He will provide.
